Zeta Lambda's 2nd Annual Research-Education Day will be occuring on Wednesday, October 24th in the Ohio Room of the IUP Hadley Union Building at 5:30pm. Our guest speaker at this time will be Zeta Lamda Secretary, Lori Jo Bell, MSN, MSEd, RN-BC, PN, NCC who will be presenting on her work as a Red Cross Nurse doing Disaster Training/Relief efforts across the United States.
Lori Jo's presentation entitled: '"Ground Zero' & Shanksville: A Red Cross Nurse's Care Experiences post Terrorist Attack" will be followed by a presentation by Mr. Danny Sacco, Director of Safety at IRMC, entitled: “Institutional Disaster Preparedness: Planning & Care.” Local nurses, the campus-wide community and general public are invited to attend this fee event. Continuing Education Credits are being sought for registered nurse attendees via IRMC & light refreshments will also be provided.
Come early (4:30pm) for a ZL General Membership meeting. At 5pm a Zeta Lambda Research Poster Session will begin... This year’s theme is “Crisis Care: Prevention, Intervention & Management of the Client, Population, Community or Environment.”
Our featured nurse speaker, Lori Jo Bell received her Masters Degree in Nursing Administration at IUP in 2003, Her MS.Ed. in Counseling Education at Duquesne University in 1996 and a BS in Developmental Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. Lori Jo has participated in numerous individual, local, national and Red Cross Disaster Assignments, including multiple responses to fires, floods, “microbursts”, etc as a member of the local “Disaster Action Team” in Pittsburgh and Washington, PA. National assignments include the Flight 93 crash in Shanksville, PA and the 9/11 ‘World Trade Center’ or ‘Ground Zero’ site in Manhattan, NY.
